Historical Fiction: Rabble in Arms by Kenneth Roberts
with Steve Thornley
Historical Fiction: Rabble in Arms by Kenneth Roberts This is the second of three historical novels written by local author Kenneth Roberts about the American Revolution. The story continues with the defeated Americans, commanded by Benedict Arnold, retreating after the disastrous Battle of Quebec. We rejoin Arnold and other principal characters introduced in Roberts’ novel Arundel as they fight the first naval battle at Valcour Island in the fall of 1776 and at the Battle of Saratoga a year later. Join us in reading and discussing this historical novel, often called his best, as Roberts weaves a fascinating, informative, and engaging story into the fabric of the American Revolution.
Note: you don’t have to have read Arundel for this course.
